Des Moines native and advocate Emily Abbas joined Bankers Trust in 2014 as the Bank's first Chief of Staff.nAbout six months later, she also began serving as Chief Marketing Officer, leading all marketing and ncommunications efforts for the Bank. nPrior to joining Bankers Trust, Emily was the Executive Director of Public Relations at Strategic America, nafter working in various marketing and communications roles at Aviva USA and GuideOne Insurance. Her nwork has won national Silver and Bronze Anvil Awards - the highest honors in Public Relations - from PRSA, an organization she has been accredited by and served in various leadership roles, including Central Iowa President. Emily also has taught undergraduate and master's level PR classes at Simpson College and nDrake University, where she received her Master of Communication Leadership (MCL). nnEmily has been recognized by the Iowa American Marketing Association Chapter as the first-ever “Marketing nExecutive of the Year” (2019), the Des Moines Business Record as the “2016 Emerging Woman of Influence,” nthe first Iowan to be named a national “Top Woman in Public Relations” by PR News (2016), and was selected by The Des Moines Register as one of the “14 People to Watch in 2014.” She also was honored in 2013 with nDrake University's “Young Alumni Loyalty Award.” Peers selected her as the Public Relations Society of nAmerica (PRSA) “PR Professional of the Year” in both 2011 and 2014.
